I just saw some black girl ask this question, so here's the answer.
White people don't try to act black. White Trash try to act ghetto because they think it's easier to be a big fish in a small pond than it is to try to compete with the people who run the world.
It's the same reason why some white trash women go ghetto. They know that a guy who is ghetto will worship them. They feel superior to him. They feel like they can break up with a guy who is ghetto without any consequence. On the other hand, she knows that a hot, educated, interesting man could take her or leave her because he has so much too choose from.

Hi!
I just think it's foolish to do that.
I am black and I don't want to live in the ghetto! The ghetto is NOT a nice place at all!
What makes one think that poverty is hip! It's not hip.It's painful...
Poverty can either turn one into a monster or a humble person.
Why not adapt any good practice that one comes across in any race instead of adopting bad ones in the name of colour?

Sounds like you have a bit of an interesting topic here, in australia we have a lot of younger people running around trying to act not only like they are dark but also like they are from the US, it makes me sick because having done more than 5 years in jail over the years I have seen these very same sorts of people get them selves into situations where a couple of them have ended up being knocked.
It makes me wonder why people don't just act like themselves because when they act that way they are very unique in the world and not like a heap of other fools that seam to think they are gangsters.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize there was a uniform set of characteristics for black people.
Assuming by "ghetto" you don't actually mean "black" I agree with you. Lower your standards and expectations, and surround yourself with likeminded people who encourage mediocrity and can you ever really "lose"
Its like hearing people from rough cities proclaim proudly "well he aint never been to jail!" Wellll actually, you're not SUPPOSED to go to jail, it's not a right of passage or something that just happens to people minding their own business. Just a different set of standards I suppose.

What exactly is acting or sounding "black"? The biggest irritation in my life has been when people come up to me and say "you don't sound black" or "you don't act black enough". What the hell does that mean? And I don't know what's worse, when I hear that from white people, or from other black people who should know better. If you are referring to white people trying to sound like their own perception of "ghetto", then I can only chalk that up to ignorance and too much MTV. All I have to say to the wannabe-ghetto white crowd is that we in the black community find the whole thing to be ignorant, irritating, and insulting. And pull your damn pants up!

Look I have a best friend that act's black . & it's funny cause she whiter than white . I'm not racist.! I'm honest, and look my friend looks stupid when she tries to act like a black person . So here's something for all us white people.! Stop trying act black, Just stop. Where white lets act white.?! & Black people act black, that's the natural color of our skin, so let's just stay true to our selves.!?
