There is no real answer to this question but what I have learned of what love is to me and that is the word LOVE itself holds the answer.......
(L)isten: and validate them by hearing and empathizing.
(O)verlook: their minor character flaws as they will overlook yours.
(V)alue: who they are and what they mean to you.
(E)xpress: how you love them not just with words but with actions.

I think love means a lot of things to alot of different people. I think two that are so emotional by nature would call love like what usually people describe as a sparkle or a tummyache or whatever and that's when two are basically infatuated by the looks or even personality and what they have in common. I think that love is living with someone who's willing to accept you the way you are..with your flaws. Someone who's willing to appreciate the person you are ..and willing to give and take...It's all about caring and sharing and understanding and trust.

Love is patient; love is kind
and envies no one.
Love is never boastful, nor conceited, nor rude;
never selfish, not quick to take offense.
There is nothing love cannot face;
there is no limit to its faith,
its hope, and endurance.
In a word, there are three things
that last forever: faith, hope, and love;
but the greatest of them all is love.
~ 1 Corinthians 13 ~
On a personal note: love to me is the man of my life. He has been a blessing and I love him every second of every day. Love is understanding each other, being there for each other. Love is something you feel deep inside and it never dies. Love is acceptance. My boyfriend has 2 beautiful kids and I have accepted them as my own. I love his children so much, they are no longer HIS children but OUR children. Love is trust. GOD IS LOVE!

Love is an emotion, a feeling, a wanting, and a “being”. It feels good. Love is Accepting, and having no particular desire to change the person you love. Who he/she is perfectly fine with you. You pose no condition on whether you will love him/her or not. This is called unconditional love. When your love IS conditional, the moment he/she steps outside your set of conditions, love evaporates. Love is also appreciation, its when your focus is on what you like about another. You look at him/her and feel this sweeping appreciation for who she/he is, their joy, their insights, their humor, their companionship, etc. Love is also wanting another to feel good.
You want the person you love to be happy, safe, healthy, and fulfilled. You want him/her to feel good in all ways, physically, mentally and emotionally.

Love is patient, love is kind, love is not easily angered, nor is it jealous. When seeing that person you shouldn't feel irritable, but rather smile from ear to ear cause you're happy to see them. You should be comfortable just being around them that you're completely yourself. When you feel that kind of love you won't want to disappoint that particular person just because of love. You also do things for this person voluntarily, not waiting to be asked. That to me is true love.

It is an emotion that is generated by a number of factors including sexual attraction, physical attraction, personality similarities and of course, familiarity.
But beyond all of that, it is arguably the most powerful force in human existence. It moves people to display acts of incredible courage and utter foolishness.
I don't think you can quantify it because it is, at its core, an abstract but it is certainly a potent one.

Love is a feeling that you feel you have a feeling that you never felt before.
Love exists in many ways: friendship, sexual, , as a father, as a child to its parent(s), an addiction(?) ... .
True love is everlasting.
Love is a gift.
