just tell them in a kind and sincere way... but if your talking about relationships it's best just to tell him/her what you really meant or trying to say...in other words just try to be honest with the person

The worst thing a person can do is to lead a person on. Just tell them the truth and eventually they will get the picture. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are a woman turning down a guy, DO NOT offer your friendship as a comprimise. We tend to take that as hope. When you do that we automatically say to ourselves " Yeah... I'll be her friend... and when she gets to know me she'll like me, then I'll hit that... No woman can resist my charm"

I suppose one could poke the bringer of unwelcome advances in the eye with a sharp pencil then tell them to go away before one pokes them in the other. That would probably do the trick.

specify reason to person be honest it hurts but sorry it has to be done. if i feel uncomfortable dating a woman taking her to the 7 eleven then i wouldnt date her.
