Doesn't have to be explicit, just with solid gay characters, and perhaps using a gay-centered theme. I've become enamoured of anime only recently, and am stumbling around trying to find a map of the place. In the meanwhile, I'm wasting time and money sorting through the various subgenres. And I'll be damned if I'm gonna pass plain, brown-paperd packages under the table.

Your suggestions would be of great help. Thank you, in advance.

And if you're someone who breaks out into massive hives at the mere whisper of the word "gay", and feel the need to tell me that all gays will burn in Hell, yada yada yada...please.
Skip it. Go mutter to yourself in the mirror.

Ai no Kusabi is a pretty good movie.

There's also Yami no Matsuei, if you're into dark/comedy -ish types :).

And it may not be shounen-ai, but Vampire Hunter D is always a good place to go for bishies :).

Manga and Doujinshi (underground manga that are usually fanworks based on well-known titles) are usually hotter than anything on the screen anyway, IMO.

"Gravitation" Is a really cute anime. It's about an up-and-coming music star who meets an author, and they have a really interesting releationship. It's not graphic at all, from what I've seen, and the storyline is quite solid, as well as the characters. :-)
