What legal means are there to vent my extreme rage that, yet again, Blair turns his back on Europe (and most of the international community, ...and on common sense....) to - yet again - support DUBYA's foreign policy and refuse to call for an immediate ceasefire in the Lebanon/Israel crisis?? Any ideas? Can I legally make my next tax cheque payable to George W. Bush, as we are now clearly governed by Washington????

I am slightly depressed that so many of the replies to this question are totally missing the point...it's not to do with antisemitism, or liberal wishywashy politics (as accused) or who is 'right' or 'wrong' it's about the fact that condoning or accepting violence for ANY reason can only breed violence AND act as a fantastic recruitment campaign for a whole new generation of terrorists. A call for an immediate ceasefire on both parts is the only rational response to this crisis, an opinion shared by all the nations present at the Rome summit EXCEPT Bush and Blair. If there are really people out there who believe that bombing Lebanon into the stone age and killing as many civilians as possible is a way forward then maybe I am wrong.... maybe there IS no hope for this planet so my question IS indeed pointless.

Since Tony Blair has overwritten free speech and our right to protest outside the House of Parliament has been taken away in a land of so called democracy, I think we are over looking some of the major problems on our own doorstep!

It takes two or in this case three groups (possibly more behind the scenes) to cause a war. The kidnapping of the Israeli solider sparked it off, and the group in Lebannon attacking the Israeli border, after they withdrew fanned the flames. ALL SIDES need to agree a ceasefire, would you stop fighting back if it was only you that was not allowed to carry on hitting the person, hitting you?

Their needs to be international recognition of borders in the Middle East and an agreement to accept them on all sides.

As for Jeruselum, a sticking point for all sides, why not let it become a seperate state, with an equal amount of all religous groups participating in its daily functions, a bit like the Vatican City. It is important to Jews, Christians and Muslims, and I am sure pilgrims from all faiths would love to be able to visit this precious site in peace.

Back to your question, maybe we should pick a day and all email a selected list of offical sites with the email title PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST..... do you think it would work, and does anyone have suggestions for the email sites and date we should send it???

Okay heres what you do: Wake up early in the morning, go to work, eat your lunch quietly, at the end of the day go home watch some television and go to sleep. Then after you do this for a week or so take your paycheck and put it in the bank, and then go spend it on stuff. (stuff you need and stuff you want) Then do this until about January and file your taxes, and keep doing that. Sooner or later the government will get the idea that you are in a "quiet protest" and they will totally interfere with Israel securing borders for the safety of thier people.

Why not pop over to the Middle East - just about anywhere will do.
Start making supportive noises and very soon you will be kidnapped and held hostage by those that you seek to support.
The next step is to wait until your Government's troops rescue you and then tell the whole world what you thought you were trying to achieve - by this time lots more well intentioned people will probably have died - oh I forgot - you might just get the chance to appear on Al Jazeera TV - making an awful mess of the studio whilst some loony slits your throat.

I apologize for my lack of knowledge of British Law. I assume that you can get a permit and stand outside the PM offices letting everyone no your point of view. What I would like to know is if you would feel the same way if Blair did nothing and another country kidnapped two British citizens or soldiers? Israel has two soldiers kidnapped by Hezbelloh in which another country, Lebenon, is giving them access and assets and Syria is giving them money and guns and refusing to tell them to back down. So why is Blair suppossed to support Lebenon?

O god not another silly ill informed lefty hell bent on hating everything connected with Bush no matter if it wrong or right.
Israel is surrounded on all sides by enemies who are sworn to wipe every Jew off the face of the Earth. The Israeli people have as much right to exist as you and me.
Unfortunately this isn't popular with Guardian reading pretend socialists crying over their cappuccinos who see Israel as big bad none Arabs. Maybe you should protest by going over there and having a chat with a few of the Israeli people in the street and telling them your silly polytechnic point of view

Legally you have an elected representative in Washington where you can express your extreme rage, I should note that we have always been governed by Washington. Who did you think we were governed by?

If you want to do something about Blair apply for British citizenship.

A victory for terrorists is a loss for the world.

When you call for an Israeli cease fire, you show your antisemitism because there are actually two sides fighting in this battle. Why not call for a Hezbollah cease fire--they started the hole thing. The reason is that you and most liberals hate Israel as much as you hate Pres. Bush. It is a disease that clouds your judgment and blinds you to facts.

With difficulty, this government has banned demonstrations near Westminster. However opposing any minority in this country is illegal, or seems to be, so as Israel is in a minority you would be in the wrong.

You must go to southern Lebanon and when the tanks roll over the border stick flowers in the gunbarrel.
Don't forget to take your LSD first
