I don't think he is a alcoholic, but when he drinks he doesn't just have one, he has 3-5. still gets up and goes to work. I am trying to convince him that it is just not healthly, he has been trying to lose weight and he works out, I would appreciate any advice or articles I could get him to read or a good website I can find information on.

Your husband IS very much an alcoholic....albeit a functioning one. He drinks 3-5 glasses of Jack at a time and goes through a bottle in two days??.....then he needs a rehab center and he needs it pronto!

Until your husband comes to the realization himself, it's very difficult to convince someone he's an alcoholic, and you need support for youself. Al-Anon is an organization for the families of alcoholics. I think this would be a great place to get the information and help you need.

no amount of information is going to be enough to convince someone who doesn't want to be convinced. the only thing you can do is let him live with the consequences of his actions. so, if he gets pulled over for DWI enroute to work? too bad, too sad honey, you're sitting in the jail, i'm not bailing you out. he can't wake up to get to work on time? too bad, too sad, i guess you're late. don't nag, don't carry on - don't even be concerned. it's not until he gets uncomfortable with his drinking that he'll view it as a problem. drinking as a weightloss program sounds a bit deranged. when he gets a pot belly, maybe he'll figure it out.
