Have you tried getting a life and not sitting on park benches singing like a loon?

You seem to have a classic case of stage fright. If you can actually sing in tune when you're with your mates then it's worth trying to get over it. Don't, however, make the mistake of thinking you can sing in tune when you can't, get over confident and end up singing in front of millions of television viewers in an X-Factor audition. The simple fact is, there are loads of people out there trying to make a living out of music and it's only those with something really special to offer who will make it. Try learing an instrument as well as singing, that will boost your credibility and also give you something to hide behind when the nerves get to you.

You sound young, so don't give yourself a hard time just yet. Try going to a few open mic nights, folk clubs and anywhere where there's a supportive atmosphere where people are willing to listen to you sing.

If you can sing, you've got nothing to loose, if you sound like a donkey on helium, probably best you save the world from another Shakira!

Sing like there is no listening, dance like there is no one watching.
