Divide 400/650 and you get the answer which is 61.5% or 62%. Input 400 into the calculator first, then 650 to get the answer(61.5% or 62%).
And, to check if this is correct, multiply 650 x 61.5% =$399.75 or $400.00.
I used the Part, Whole and Rate principle, which is Part(400) divided by Whole(650) or Rate(no rate present for this equation, but it's a percentage number) to get an answer.
Or, if you want the part (400), multiply whole($650.00) and rate(61.5%) to get answer. See second sentence.
Also, check out math.com website or do a search on the internet for dividing percentages, simple math, algebra, etc. This helps me.

$400/$650 gives what fraction $400 is of $650, which is 8/13 or, in decimal notation, 0.615384 recurring. To convert this to percentage form simply multiply by 100%. One multiplies by 100% since the % sign simply denotes 1/100. 100% = 100/100 = 1, and hopefully we all know that multiplying a number by 1 will not change it.
So the answer is $400/$650 * 100%, which is roughly 61.5%.

The KEY with percentages is to realize you've got 2 parts, the portion and the base. The base is the "whole pie."
With $400 of $650, you're pie or base would be the 650 and your portion would be 400.
To calculate the %age, you simply divide the portion (400) by the base (650) , and then multiply this by 100.
