Hmm...
It means to me that people are so afraid to die that they make up stories to make themselves feel better.

Physics tells us that energy can not be destroyed only changed and all things are made of energy including us. So to me reincarnation is like a cosmic recycling process in some ways. You die and your energy is reborn again and again until it is refined to perfection and after that no one can really know.
