The NRA (National Rifle Association) is a conservative organization as are most things that begin with the word Christian. (although few of them are actual Christians, they find real Christians tend to donate to things with that word in it.)

AARP is a conservative organization.
It is trying to conserve Social Security, a program which has been effective and stood the test of time for 70 years. I thought conservatives liked things that had been around for decades.
It is also trying to conserve Medicare, a program was been effective for 40 years, and is actually more cost-effective than any private sector program. It saves taxpayers billions every year through its efficency.

AARP is an advocacy group for folks who are approaching retirement years.

I would not call them a conservative group, however. They're currently advocating all kinds of reforms and "enhancements" to social programs.

I am not debating the merits of their proposals, just clarifying that these positions are more liberal than conservative.
