English law is a culmination of laws passed through democracy (parliament) and before democracy. For example some contradictory laws still stand in some parts of england that were created by earlier royals, and not been amended by parliament, although there is a contradictory law in place.
For example, the parliament ruled out corporal punishment, yet the law still states that you can be hung for killing a swan.
Also in Derby it is legal to murder a scotsman, although the law states that no person has the right to inflict physical pain on amyone, or the right to end anothers life at will.
The laws are upheld by the Police, up to the Judges and Magistrates. Lawyers/Barristers/Soliciters earn their living through the law.
Another English force of law is the military divisions, they have different court and laws for military maters, ,such a going awol, up to abusing your position, and using your weapon training when inappropriate.
So there is the Democratic law
The original Royal law
The military law.
And finally the not illegal but 'sub-laws' that organisations put in place such as companys or clubs.
Hope that was what you meant and it helps?!

Your better off removing yourself from all social networking sites for a while and change your contact details and phone number as the police are useless in this country and wont be able to help you. They will however have him arrested after you have been physically abused or murdered though but obviously that's no good to you. Get yourself one of those alarm things to carry about with you.
