If you're simply making a connection between flights in Paris (flying from Asia or Russia to the U.S. for example) - no, you don't need a transit visa, but you won't be able to leave the international zone of the airport.

It depends on your country of Origin & type of your VISA. For example you are citizen of some Asian country and going to US or some other country you will need transit visa BUT if you are holding a Schenzen Visa you do not need a transit Visa for France....

You don't need a visa to go to or go through any European Union coutry if you are an American citizen.
