I remember him to be caucasian, and as far as teaching - it sounds more like an instruction to sin badly, even though he was portrayed as a good hero.

Sinbad was a Sailor known to had travel the Seas and was very powerful to had overcome all the pirates in War. He had a heart as well and wanted rightiousness. The first cartoon to come out was in the n60's called "Sinbad the Sailor", a spin off from the movie Sinbad. Walt Disney later came out with their version.

Sinbad (Or Sindbad) the Sailor was definitely a character in the 1001 Arabian Nights stories, which would make the name Arabic or Persian, I guess. I know people have already said this, but people have said other wacky stuff too...
