dollaralchemist- Any reason why it is or isn't okay, medical, emotional, or whatever. It was meant to be a pretty broad question.

I think it is a personal choice.

I would never do it to my little girl, but I really like the idea of her making her own choices with her life. I look forward to seeing her choices for life stuff.

I see no fault in parents who do have it done to there children. It is just there preference and they have the right to that preference.

So...do what you feel is right.

I think it's ok to pierce a baby's ears, but I personally don't find it cute or attractive.

Being the mom of an infant daughter, I've decided to wait until she asks me. And then we'll make a day of it, like a little initiation into mini-girlhood. A little Gilmore Girl moment. I can't wait. Awwww.

I know a lot of people who have done it, but I have chosen not to. I don't feel comfortable with it because I would be afraid she would be playing or something, and the earring could get pulled or caught on something. Especially with the way kids jump onto the furniture and play around and everything. I figure she can decide for herself when she is older and able to be responsible for taking care of them. It may be something special she will look forward to...

Seriously, I wonder whether you are asking this question from a medical viewpoint?. If yes, then It would need more details of age, current health, etc. The ability to have the courage of decision and living by it is built by deciding your self. A poll like this is never an answer.

well, depending on YOUR culture...
here in asia, it's quite the norm for baby girls to have their ears pierced.

In western cultiures, it's a choice they let the child make when the child is at an resposonible age.

But it is easier for to have a baby have their ears pierced. They are to young to even remeber the pain. For those out there who are feeling wiser, dont't ask or comment on how i know they dont remember the pain; i'm sure you don't remember your 3rd month immunizations.

Well I pierce my baby's ear when she was very small. She was only 3 months old. She never had any problems with them it was like they were not even there. I think it is better to do it when there are young.

I got my daughters ears pierced when she was 7 weeks old. It didn't bother her. She doesn't mess with them it healed easily. I think the youger the better. And you know what for those of you who think it is just SO WRONG. It looks adorable and if she doesn't want it when she gets older guess what?!?! The last I checked they aren't permanent and they will come out and grow up in a snap! =)

My mother pierced my ears when I was only 6 weeks old. I loved the fact that she did it then because it shows up in all my pictures and it looks really pretty.

Been wondering the same thing myself. I dont think its a big deal cause if the kid doesnt want pierced ears they can easily let them close up. But my prob is I want to do it but I just dont have the heart to let someone poke holes in my girls ears. Getting her shots is bad enough for me and that needs to be done. I hate to hear her scream.

Yes, unless it's a boy. It looks so cute when baby girls have their ears pierced. People are just way too uptight these days if they say there is something wrong with it.
