Just about any rural area would work out fine for you.

If you want city life try in the mid-west of south. Those are the cheaper cities.

It depends on what you want. If you want a place that will be a great financial investment, you should consider moving to New York. You could find a descent three bedroom house on that salary on long island. If you are looking for a bigger house and more property then you should consider moving down south to the Carolina's or Georgia or Florida and find a golf course property or waterfront property that is also a great investment property, however the education in some parts of down south is not that great if you are planning on a family. If you are looking for beaches and a lot of sun try California and Hawaii, you won't be able to afford much with that salary but you will have a great time. What ever you do, don't rent always buy a house or in a more expensive area, buy a condo. Always put your money into something that you will get a return on it. I hope I was helpful.

I suppose it depends on where you work and what type of place you are looking for. I am personally partial to the Minneapolis, Minnesota, area. Minneapolis has a pretty low crime rate and the surrounding cities are even lower. Apparently it also has very polite drivers (there was a poll done recently). There is even something called "Minnesota nice" which has become a matter of state pride that Minnesotans are so nice to other people. Also, it is beautiful here. There are 4 seasons, including real winter with snow. So if you like to have different seasons instead of just being warm or hot like it is in the south, Minnesota is the state for you. Also, it isn't as expensive to live here as it is in places like California or New York.

A significant unasked/unanswered question is whether you can continue to earn $150k if you move from your current location.

$150k will go a lot farther in the South and Midwest than it will in the Northeast or either coast. There is, of course, a reason for that: there's not a lot going on in the South or Midwest when compared to the coasts or Northeast. More people want to live in the latter locales than the former. So you pay a premium to live in a popular area.

That is alot of money you make. I hope one day I can make that kind of money too. I think everyone has their own definition of a nice place to live. For me, the peace and quiet in Australia would be a nice place for me to live in. I like the lay back life style there where people move at a much slower pace than Singapore (who are constantly in a rat race) and the fact that everyone stop work at 5pm ~

The Indianapolis area is good and growing. The housing is nicer in the northern suburbs. Good luck!

Texas. People think bad things, but this is a truly magical state. I wouldn't dream of living in any other. No matter what you love, you will find it in Texas, it is such a diverse and beautiful state.
