Unfortunately for all the innocents, neither is correct.
One, (Hezbullah), is using innocents to hide behind and carry out atrocities on the other side, whilst the other (Israel) is committing atrocities to innocents in Lebanon in the hope of subduing/eradicating Hezbullah.
If one is declared a winner, how will it be measured - how many each other have killed or made homeless?
This is a no win situation for either side.

I think there are several ways to look at this:
1. From a short-term, purely humanitarian view, both sides are equally wrong to kill, intentionally or unintentionally, innocent civilians, with all the individual suffering and tragedies that result from killing.
2. This fight has been going on for decades, during which many innocents have been killed on both sides. If nothing is changed, even if there is a cease fire that lasts for a few months, it will resume sooner or later, until something does change. Anything that would bring a change that stopped this cycle would be the right thing to do, even, unfortunately, if it results in the prospect of civilian deaths. But it must have an excellent chance for success.
3. The only force that can stop this cycle is the will of ordinary people who suffer the worst tragedies because of the fighting. To make change happen, their voices must predominate in both countries.
4. A country like Lebanon, with an independent military organization dominating the government, will never have internal freedom or peace with its neighbors. With this arrangement, the will of ordinary citizens will never prevail.
5. In my view, neither side is right or wrong, but there are pragmatic considerations as to what should be done to achieve a peace that will last and is driven by the will of ordinary people on both sides. I don't think anyone in the world has come close to an answer yet, and one is desperately needed.

The problem is that Hezbolla is hiding in heavily populated areas. It is not unusual to have a Hezbolla fighter shoot at you out of a building and then when you go into the building, it is full of women and children with the man in the middle of them. They do this on purpose so that more innocent citizens will be killed and then they can try to make israel look bad. What they don't talk about is that the Hezbolla fighters shoot missles into israel's towns and try to kill innocent civilians on purpose. They dont shoot the missles at israel's military at all. Israel, on the other hand goes to EXTREME measures to try to prevent innocent people from being killed.

They are overdoing it. The initial strikes can be a counter to the two soldiers taken as hostage but not a full scale war by asking people to vacate and go to safer places.
