well... there are people who STUDY dreams...

They find "parallels" between dreams which are experienced by different people. Some believe that there is a UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE... which is used to communicate our sub-conscience desires, wishes, dreams, fears, concerns...

That language uses symbolism, puns and riddles....

for example a dream about a "DOG" is code for "GOD", (dog spelled backwards)... and an indication (even if you don't believe) that FATE or something out of your control is at work here.

YET even the EXPERTS admit it's just an opinion. I think a lot of dream analysis IS based on science... and makes sense... However I have been privy to several friends who were very good at interpretation.

I know this is a "wishy-washy" sort of answer... but I hope it helps some.

I believe dreams tell you hidden messages that you didn't realise when what you are dreaming about actually happened. I think maybe they tell you what you missed out on doing in certain situations and they are a good source of learning. If a scenario comes up in a dream and you are lucky enough to remember it when you wake then try and relate it to something you have been through that was similar to the dream, compare the two situations and see if the dream gives you any insight - especailly if it relates to a problem you've had.

Some dreams are just caused because of something horrific we've done last night or the day before.. like watching a horror movie..thinking about something that had worried you too much..or even an exciting event.
Nonetheless, I do believe that some dreams do have a meaning. Whether phsycological or even physical.

Yes I believe they all have meaning. As a young teenage male my first dreams were a little scary until I found out what wet dreams were all about. Now that I am much older I still have dreams but I don't have a clue what they mean. I guess that is what old age does to you!

A dream is a subconscious way of storing information. If you imagine your brain as a computer, the things you experience in a day are filed away in a temporary folder. You already know that your body needs sleep. When you sleep, your computer files all of these experience files into the permanent memory (C drive, if you like). Thing is, when it does this, it can file them away in an odd way. For example, today, you play a fantastic game of tennis and have carrots with your dinner. When you sleep that night your brain may file this memory away by putting it with your other memories of eating carrots, even though the most memorable event was the tennis. When this is actually filed away, you may dream of carrots playing tennis, or something like that. When you wake, this seems really strange to you, but that's the way your brain works.

Dreams are the musing of the mind when you are asleep. They usually happen when you are waking up and often a sound starts them off. Other dreams are caused by the happenings during the previous day and your misgivings about how you handled certain situations. There is nothing proven that dreams are a glimps of the future, in fact 90% of dreams are based in the past.

Dreams have meaning only for you. The things you dream about are highly personal and although we may dream of the same things their meanings will be quite different.

As to whether they have specific meanings as in that your mind is trying to tell you something unless you can decipher the code then you'll never break them down. You could ask others what they might mean but it still comes to whether you can work that into your mind set.

I think time had given them a meaning, we have given them a meaning, but dreams having a meaning is just an opinion, it all depends on whether you believe.

yeh, all dreams have an covert meaning. what the dream actually is and what you make of it relating to your life now.
I had a dream once of all the things that had happened that made me sad and all due to the fact that i was away from home and missing my family and friends. I saw each person and the worst thing that had happened to them in real life. Make sense?
