How to conduct browser testing...?

hi to all,
iam new to software testing and my project is web based project...
what are the standards for every web browser and how to conduct the browser testing on a web application and any one is having sample test cases plzz send me.. that will help me a lot.

If you test on Mozilla and Opera, that's probably enough. If it doesn't work on those, but it DOES on Internet Explorer, then you've used some MS only code. Linux and Mac users won't be able to use your webpage.
