Their pitching has taken a nose dive, that's for certain. If you are a Sox fan the hope has to be that this is just a normal slump that all teams go through during the course of a season. Best that it happens now rather then in late August or September.
If you look at a situation like the Minnesota Twins, they started the season very poorly. And everyone dismissed them and left them for dead. But they got on a roll and pretty soon got into the race. All it will take is for Chicago to get on a winning streak and build some momentum. There is too much talent on this team to think that it won't happen. Don't forget, there are still 2 months left in the season. That is a lot of baseball!

Pitching is their big problem right now. Buehrle has looked horrible in his last 4 or 5 starts. Garcia hasn't looked good either. Contreras is pitching well, but seems to be as unlucky lately as he was lucky when he won 17 straight decisions. Vasquez is finding ways to blow games where he has a lead. Only Garland right now is pitching well and getting the breaks.

Every team goes through a little funk now and again.
It's a only natural part of a 162 game schedule.
It's how you deal with it as team that matters
(i.e., crying about the umpires or blaming it on the humidity or elbowing opposing players at home plate after they hit a grand slam, or having your manager mouth off to "protect" his players).
A team that stands up and says "yeah we played crappy" gets my respect alot quicker.

Do you've a canines? LOL! one among my pooches looks to continuously snag some socks, and then hides them in obscure places. i purchase maximum of a similar type of socks so even as they pass lacking or ultimately placed on out, I continuously can pair them up with a similar mate out of the drawer. Now the position did that sneaky canines run off to.....?

Its too early to count them out. They have pitching and pitching wins championships. Wouldn't you take Contreras back now? Every team goes through losing streaks . I expect them to be right back into it at the end only to lose to the Yankees in 6

That pitching was exposed. It was suspect all year and they turned into some team that swung for the fences and hoped having that World Series Champ next to their name would get them through.

The same thing that's going to happen to the Bears this season. They won't be as good because the teams in their division won't be as bad as they were last year.
