So, what is your opinion on the issue of taking "One nation, under God" from the pledge of alllegiance, "In God We Trust" from dollar bills, and "God" in numerous other places in the legal code as a violation of "separation between church and state".

Is your obvious response that God is real, and we shouldn't even bother to contest him?

Do you think that God may, or may not, exist -- we don't really know, and we don't really care where his name is.

Or is the response that separation of Church and State is clearly violated, in numerous ways, from the pledge of allegience to the money issued by the government.

I would ask why you feel this way, but I really don't want book-long answers, and I have to admit that I don't read the long long answers. So keep it short, and we'll have an interesting discussion going. :)

'In Greenback we believe' sounds more appropriate.

Affirming faith in a generic God does not offend any religion. But it might offend atheists.

I believe in God, but I believe that atheists' voice too need to be heard (just like God himself does :-)).

'In Truth we believe' should be acceptable to all; but it will essentialy be a lie.

I would say that "separation of Church and State is clearly violated, in numerous ways, from the pledge of allegiance to the money issued by the government."

I wouldn't care so much about those stupid little things if not for the fact that the church already has a hand in so many new laws being passed that these two things are the only scraps we non-xtians really have left to fight for.

If the church gets it's way then this country will be no better than the middle east with one religion oppressing all others and even fighting among themselves.

Keep it. The God referrd to by the government is non-denominational and stands for a greater good. I think these days individuals are too pre-occupied indulging their need for immediate gratification and don't have a perspective on society that where they aren't the center of teh universe. Keeping God prevalent provides a perspective on humanity I think I crucial in a day and age where personal freedom to do anything is okay as long as it doesn't involve mentioning God.

Actually, I think it is a good idea, because not everyone believes in God, or that God, anyway, and to have it printed on everything sort of goes against other religions, and we can't discriminate. We have to be all equal.
