I am overweight and I try to eat breakfast every day - at least 5 times a week. I am fat because of the foods that I do eat and because I do not take enough exercise but I know that when I do eat breakfast I am less likely to eat junk or highly sweet foods.

I have also lost a lot of weight and it's getting the balance right between eating enough but not eating too much. Eating breakfast with a high fibre content seems to help me through the first part of the day and carries me on to lunchtime without the need for sugary stuffs mid morning so it's worth giving it a go.

Good luck in losing weight

P.S. this was written as I was eating a chocolate bar because today was one of the days when I didn't manage breakfast

Hi there, I am slim, size UK6 about 5 foot tall, but I always seem to have to try hard to keep my figure, as I can put weight on quite easily.

I have started eating breakfast, and I have found it does help you to maintain your weight, especially if you are trying to lose it.

I read in a book once, that ideally, you should: eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper.

It makes sense, because at breakfast time, it is the start of the day, and it is the time when you need the most energy and you need it to last, so it doesn't really matter if you have a large breakfast... as long as you have one!!!

Dinner later on in the day, or early evening, your body's metabolism slows down, and your body does not need so many calories anyway, so it makes sense to eat less.

Good luck, hope the book is a good read and you get a lot out of it.

I`ve lost 3 stone since christmas, all by changing my eating habits and going to the gym. Before i started my diet i would miss breakfast, dinner and sometimes tea then be starving at night and end up eating take aways or sandwiches. I now eat more than i did before and am losing the weight if you think of your body as a fire, you make it on a morning with breakfast then keep adding fuel all day to keep it going so your body burns up the calories, if you don`t keep it fueled your body will just store what you eat as it does`nt know when its going to get its next meal so it will just stock it up You need to ave 3 meals a day and don`t eat late at night i won`t eat after 8pm now if i am hungry after this time i will just ave fruit or maybe a slice of toast. Also drink plenty of water you may be confusing thirst for hunger sounds silly but try it if you are still hungry after a drink then eat fruit or carrot/celery sticks.

i am slim and used to be fat. i lost a load of weight on weightwatchers and ate my breakfast. As soon as i concentrated on ww less i put it all back on and some. I made a decision one day to stop dieting and over a few months i lost 2 stone by eating what i like. I eat breakfast, i eat sweets, i eat a lot of good and bad with one important difference. I no longer eat to lose weight or beacuse i'm bored. if i feel the need for lots of sweets i buy fruit and yoghurts and go for a walk. i'm now 8 stone 5 pounds. i would recommend breakfast as it sets off your metabolism for the day

Im not overweight and i make sure i eat no longer than half an hour after waking up. Its hard at 1st but its not so bad the more u do it. Try porridge oats, u wont be hungry 4 a good few hours guaranteed! Experts say you should eat a big breakfast 30mins after waking up and nothing 2 hours b4 you go to sleep. Drink loads of water this flushes your body out and gets rid of harmful toxins.

i`m overweight just now and didn`t used to eat breakfast but i`ve recently started to eat healthy and always have breakfast now and have lost 1/2 a stone in 6 weeks,i think if you dont eat breakfast it causes you to eat more later on in the day.

No I have always been told of how skinny I was and its funny cause I didn't ever eat breakfast and I would only eat lunch like a really small lunch and a healthy dinner. Eat healthy stuff like veggies and fill up on the fruits and veggies and stay away from breads and starchy foods and dont eat alot of food when you do eat. They say if you eat several small meals you wont be so likely to gorge at dinner so dont starve yourself either

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!!!
Having breakfast triggers your body to start up its' metabolism and fat burners.
However -- beware what you start the day with. You need a good, high-quality meal with lots of protien and some complex carbs. A couple of eggs w/ some wheat toast is a great idea. Throw some butter on the toast for taste - because you need a little bit of "fats" too.
Good luck to you!!!

I hate eating breakfast as it can make me feel a little queasy but I do try to eat breakfast because if i don't i have to grab a snack mid morning which is usually crisps or chocolate as i keep forgetting/losing/damaging the healthy fruit i take in.
