Wicca is a nature based religion that believes in the God and Goddess which gives the feminine and masculine sides to things. Also believes in magic and spells. It's also what most people refer to as witchcraft. Some naive people believe it's devil worshiping because the God has horns, but the fact is Wicca does not believe in a devil, but only that there is good and bad in people. If you want to read about basic Wicca a very good author is Scott Cunningham. If you want to read about it as a religion try "Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner" or just as a study there is "The Truth About Witchcraft Today"

Jim hit the nail just above as I was writing! Dang.
Wiccans are not necessarily lesbian, although the sexually deviant do tend to delve into alternatives in all aspects of their lifestyles, not just sex. So you will find a rather higher proportion of homosexuals, as well as nymphomaniacs, the frigid, and chronic masterbaters. But that's just a demographic sampling, not a judgment of any individual Wicca.
Wiccans are those who are generally trying to discover an ancient magic that may or may not ever have existed. They do not "worship the devil" because they do not believe in a devil. They believe in a nature spirit more in keeping with Pan.
They are trying to revive a practice and belief that was a) not written down anywhere (no, there is no "Wiccan Bible") and b) was effectively exterminated by the Christians over 500 years ago.
That's a tall order. They use some history, some literature, and some imagination, knowing the shape of the rituals and practices, if not the substance of them. They can be very creative (I personally like "sky-clad" events!) but they are hardly "true", being at best a serious and solemn recreation.
If you do not believe in orthodoxy (that is, if you think that the Lord's Prayer can be said "Our Daddy living in the Nice Place, we think you're really cool ..."), then you might put some credence in Wiccan rituals. However, if you want "real" in your "religion" - you will be disappointed.
Sorry. But the crystals are pretty, and some of the teas are tasty and beneficial.

1.A polytheistic Neo-Pagan nature religion inspired by various pre-Christian western European beliefs, whose central deity is a mother goddess and which includes the use of herbal magic and benign witchcraft.
2.A group or community of believers or followers of this religion.
The symbol of a wican is the pentagram which is a pentacle surrounded by a circle . It combines the properties of both the pent5acle and the circle . Thus it represints the union of the God and Goddess . Actually is used of witches if you beleive in magic . If you don't you should think again .heheehehe
Is telling that wican is living in the hearts of those who believe ...

A follower of one of various New Age Religions. Usually they claim to be following a Tradition that is older than most other Religions although that is a claim that has been disproven often. (it was made up buy one of the earlier founders in the 1920's) They tend to combine alot of Nature (gaia) worship with Spirit beliefs and may even include some Majik (magik or magic). Most are really just rebellious teens who think they will tick off there parents and school by doing it. Many wannabees grow out of it but some stay with it for life.

It's a religion which honours the God and Goddess (by whichever names you prefer), respects Nature, and follows the Wiccan Rede. Above all else we follow one rule, "An if it harms none, do what ye will." We do not worship Satan, in fact we don't even believe in Satan. We also don't sacrifice virgins, children, or animals. The best general site out there for more information is www.witchvox.com.
Blessed Be

From what I was taught Wiccans practice Wicca..an earth-based spirituality..but are generally confused by the ignorants as satan worshipers. Wicca is a federally accepted spirituality in the US now.

First it is spelled Wicca.
Secondly I don't consider myself a sexual deviant. Unless being happily married with two kids as being abnormal.
Most faiths are centered around conflict between good and evil. Wicca is centered around balance between male and female. We believe that instead of bowing to God we work with the God and Goddess to bring about positive change to our world because it is the only one we have. We do not harm others and do not want to be harmed in return. We belief in reincarnation. We are responsible for our actions instead of looking for a higher source to blame for our actions or what is going on in the world (i.e. "The Devil made me do it" or "It is God's will"). We believe that by bettering ourselves and our understanding of the Universe then we can better the Universe as a whole. Yes we do magick or witchcraft but that is done in positive ways to bring about positive change. For those who don't know, magick is akin to pray but where pray has you begging on your knees for someone else to do something, magick uses your own power to bring about change for we are all a part of the collective consciousness. If you are really interested in our views I would suggest reading "The Truth About Witchcraft Today" by Scott Cunningham.
