Most good virus/firewall applications such as Norton or Mcaffee should detect a keylogger. Also I would try Anti-Spyware software (there is a free one available from Microsoft) and last you can check what programs are running on your PC by using a free program called HiJackThis.

Is it remote or local that you are looking for ? If it's remote look for data passing through unknown ports on your system (you can do this with a firewall). If you are looking for local, do CTRL-ALT-DEL to get the task manager and look for applications that are running that you do not know what they do (I would suggest using a search engine to find out what they are before shutting them down)
