always try to contact the hospital first. quite often there are over 200 patients waiitng for appointments for the consultant you are under. Follow-up appointments following surgery are usually within 6 weeks, but it depends on the consultant, the sort of surgery you had and the other 'priority' patients waiting to see the surgeon. You can go to your GP, and they may be able to help.
Appointments are booked 6 weeks in advance wherever possible and we normally issue and appointment for post-op follow-up when you leave the ward following surgery.

as for excuses and cuts - yes there are some, but the NHS is one of the hardest working industries in the country and public expectations are often wholly unreasonable. If you ask nicely, calmly and collectedly, you will normally get help or advice - shout, be arsey or start and political rant will get you nowhere!

expediting appointments is only ever done for clinical reasons, never social or domestic reasons otherwise where would we be?!

Depends on the hospital I have to go too Kings college and they are very good with my appointments in fact I actually got a letter last week telling me that they would send me a letter telling me when my next appointment will be so I don,t think that they have forgotten me ! I think you should give the dept you need a call as for getting an earlier appointment ask obviously it depends on the urgency of your health problem !

Try ringing the hospital and explain that you need an appointment asap and that you can take an cancellations at the last minute. personall it take so long coz everyones busy! apparently! it take ages for an appointment so ringing is the best option.

I'll tell you that! Its because they are currently on a transition between their old scheduling system (PAS) and their new one with CRS Millennium. Unfortunately, this system is pretty rubbish in my opinion. Hope you get well soon!
