to my knowledge ,,,, they cant force you to say ANYTHING unless you are subpoenaed to court to testify.

My advise is to anyone is to say nothing, and dont voluntarily go in and answer any questions (unless, of course, it is your intention to help them out).

Police depend on strongarm tactics to make people give them the evidence to convict themselves. And people truley believe that they can talk their way out of things. Don't.

My answer is always the same:

"I want to be as helpful as possible, but unfortunately my personal policy is that I do not answer police officers questions."

I always tell them my name, address, ss#, and destination (if i have one at the time) , thats it.

If the police had something on you, they would have already come and arrested you. Dont help them make their case.

Thats just my opinion.

This depends on your jurisdiction, you really need to talk to a lawyer. One thing that applies in every jurisdiction is that you should be co-operative with the police, but demand every one of your rights. And NEVER EVER EVER go into a police interview without a lawyer present if you think theres a chance you're suspected of a crime. All you need to say is "I'm very willing to co-operate, but I really cant answer any questions without a lawyer present"

Yes. Its best to cooperate rather than have them come and arrest you. Bring an attorney with you.

(Based on incomplete information.) No - but if they do do this - call a lawyer and have him/her contact P.D. If you still have to go - take lawyer with you. It's ALWAYS better to cooperate - just take your LAWYER.
