Sounds about right. When you think that so many people in underdeveloped and overpopulated regions like China, India, Africa and Indonesia are living in total poverty and don't have proper septic facilities, then yes, that proportion sounds about right.

Can't verify the 4/5 figure but if you are doing a project on drinking water, it has become this century's liquid gold, like oil was in the 20th. Privatisation of drinking water supplies is happening worldwide and the poor are often already unable to pay for it (see Peru). Big business is buying into this commodity to make its next big sting.
Previous respondent was also right. It is not just a 3rd World problem. The UK government is building affordable homes in the south-east of Britain and forgot to calculate water supply needs properly.
It won't happen, but in my opinion, international law should make it impossible for any person or organisation to own water and the prices everywhere regulated by governments to ensure all people can afford it.
Deaths will occur: the rule of three states that humans die after 3 minutes without air, 3 days without water and three weeks without food. Water is important.

Dude there are over FOUR BILLION people on Earth - - guess how bad it will be when it hits TEN BILLION - - we will all be drinking recycled Piss - - this planet was not made for BILLIONS of People and the billions of animals needed to feed them especially when you consider how badly Humans trash the environment. And anyone who tells you this is only a problem in poor undeveloped countries is LYING to you. This is a problem faced by countries throughout Europe, Australia, have you tried the water in Parts of Mexico, or tried well water in Santa Monica. Yes you can argue that a bottle of water at a dollar a pop is access but really - - - !
