This is why it is generally a good idea to ask in the interview when you are likely to hear back from them regarding potential employment, otherwise you just never know!
Generally, the faster they get back to you, the better it is, and certainly, if its been over a week, then chances are, unless they are a company that operate on a partcularly laid-back basis, that you've not got the job.
But then, there are always exceptions!

It all depends - hearing sooner is they either desparately want you or they definitely don't want you. Hearing later means they're thinking about it - which means you have a chance!

Some companies just arent all that organized. Be happy you hear from them. Be careful if it is a long time, because maybe their first choice didnt work out. Good Luck!

Depends on the Company. Where I work we have to check referees etc. before we offer the job, so the successful applicant(s) will be the last to know.

My first proper job as a PTI i had to wait ages for the acceptance letter as my interveiw was so good they had to decide on other factors with other applicants
