i would ignore it and brush it off as more stupid people making stupid lying comments

Oh, come on! I love rumors! In my neighborhood there is a saying: after a good horse there is a great deal of dust!
But to get serious: I usually ignore the rumors myself, because I don't really care what people who don't know me think about me, and those who know me will also know what is truth and what is not truth. And if someone I don't really care about tries to ask me about the rumor I just put on a nasty smile and say: "Of course!"

Usually ignore it, unless it personally attacks my integrity then I will defend myself. Rumors fade. It will only last until the next nasty rumor comes out about someone else.

i would first confront and if the rumor kept on i would let them know how sad and low-life they were. The evil side of me would prob do something back to them but the good in me would take over and i would ignore them and let Carma take care of them.
