Very limited music scene - they take what is popular in the UK and adapt it to fit the Mauritian taste - apart from that there is the national music called *Sega* which is great and energetic and played with traditional instruments. Pretty much every hotel has at least one band on their entertainment staff, and many locals play either piano or guitar. The talent ranges from shockingly bad to professional and amazing - not sure what you are hoping to gain from your stay, but enjoy the experience - I am sure Mauritians will be willing to take you in and teach you what they know.

well it depends, because in Mauritius, you have different cultures and ethnic backgrounds, so the people listen to different types of music, like the asian ethnic people will listen to asian music, but the catholics listen to the 'sega' for which Mauritius is quite well-known for!! but mauritians also enjoy all kinds of music, they do also listen to western music!!
so have fun and entertain them and yourself!!!
