It's been checked out by a nurse and theres no wax, it doesn't hurt so i don't think it's an ear infection and i can still hear out of it so i don't think i'm going deaf! I've taken a decongestant which hasn't helped at all. Can anyone suggest anything to try?

I had exactly same symptoms few months back, my doctor suggest me to take the following precautions:

1) Don't use ear buds to clean.
2) Don't try to itch ears, even if its severe.
3) Use ear plugs while taking bath & avoid swimming.
4) Sleep without a pillow, or in that position that it doesn't create pressure around or back of the ear.
5) Avoid using any types of ear drops.
6) If you constantly change location in office or home from indoor to outdoors & vice versa, the sudden change in temperature aggravates the problem always keep cotton inserted in your ear or cover it with a cap while doing so.
7) You can have some anti-allergic tablet, it will help a lot, sometimes we have allergies, unknown to us, because of sudden weather changes.

Taking these simple harmless precaution did help me to clear the blockage. Good luck !

You might want to have it checked out by a doctor, because usually wax is painful if there's a great deal of buildup, but you said that there isn't any. Just beware: ear infections don't always hurt! A friend of the family passed out several times, was really dizzy, and had other symptoms, and it turned out that even though there was no pain, she had an ear infection! So don't count on that. Good luck, and I hope it turns out okay!

Have you recently had Bronchitis or Pneumonia or a bad cold which made you cough a lot?. You may have coughed some flem into the tube that drains the ear. I smoke so I have that happen often.

It goes away gradually with me.

If it doesn't see a doctor.

Mine used to get blocked because of my hyperthyroid problems.
If you have other symptoms like fast heart-beat, trembling hands, and weight loss... better have a check with the doc. If not, good to see an ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat) specialist.
