In Logic, Nothing is the "Null Set". It is a concept, whereas a thing is an entity in the physical world.
Sorry to be boring! I haven't though of an amusing answer on the spur of the moment.
How about:-
"Nothing is when you are not thinking about anything"?

Nothing is merely a word that represents a concept so complex that the feeble and arrogant human mind placed such a bland and undefined word on it to move on.

i think you're tripping on your own feet here miss...
it's nothing. period. live with it.
the only reason why you got confused with it is because you keep thinking there is something to it for it to become nothing when nothing in itself is already nothing. get it?
in much the same way that we call the universe SPACE, it just can't be SPACE, there are quadrillions of celestial bodies scattered across it, but did anyone bother to complain why it is named as such?..
girl, it's nothing. ^_^

Sure it is. It's a compound word, comprised of no and thing. So, a person can be nothing, a feeling can be nothing.... and so forth. Any abstract is nothing, as you've identified with your empty signifier.

Nothing is a construct of the mind referring no-thing. It is the mind's attempt to conceptualize the state of not being.

To put into proper context you have to look at mathematics. What you are probably questioning is the difference between zero and null. Zero is a value which can be appreciated or depreciated. Null on the other hand can not.

No, quit looking dumb and acting stupid. Nothing is opposite of something. They are not synonyms for a reason.

Nothing is the absence of anything (any something)
So it is really not something.
It is when there isn't any "something" that we call it nothing.
