Encapsulation means hiding the inner functionality from outside world to temper with or other processes interfering with the normal functioning.

just like you have a piece of paper you want to mail to someone. encapsulation is just like putting the paper in an envelope and writing your address and destination address. You can however, put a the envelope into another envelope (double encapsulation). That, however, falls into another subject.

It is a process used in OSI model....It means adding bits of info on to the data. As u add info bits become frames then packets then segments and then DATA that u read on ur computer.

it is when your ip packet is "encpapsulated" in another ip packet with a different IP address when it gets to where its going the outer packet is stripped off with a key and only the orig is left
