Actually, I think it is pathetic. And yeah, I am American.
Keep in mind the terms though. Over weight is 1-20 pounds over "norm". Obese is 21-40.
Those people can all fit in the equipment without a problem.
The problem is the morbidly obese.
The article kind of skews on that. 64 percent of Americans are NOT morbidly obese. Actually that percentage is fairly low, but not as low as it should be.
As usual, our news ignores the facts it wants to ignore to get the story.
And yeah, we as a nation are too damned fat. Thanks for asking.

Yes, it is funny but at the same time shameful.While the majority of the world's population don't know where to get their next meal, there are people who eat and eat to their hearts' content.

Yay! I'm part of the minority. I'm 5'8" 130lbs. If that trend keeps happening all my poor person coach airline flights will be like sitting in 1st class with all the extra room I will get when they install bigger seats.

No it is sad. What is funny is that they said not long ago that someone who is slightly overweight is healthier. If that is so, then wouldn't that mean they are probably not slightly overweight and at a healthy weight.
