I finshed Uni about a year ago now and even though I've had a 9 - 5 for a lot of the time since, I'm still in "student mode" i.e;

don't get tired till 4 in the morning
struggle to wake up in time for work
am half asleep all day long
sleep almost all weekend
still can't see the point in making my bed
detest washing up
still think Family Guy and the Simpsons are the funniest thing since Blackadder
etc

I was just wondering how long other people have been in this sort of half-student half-grownup state and when it normally wears off, if indeed it does ever at all.

Regulate your sleeping patterns with lots of exercise early evening and get an alarm clock that lights up before you wake up - the light is a more gentle wake up call and sets your body clock properly (see link). Do not drink too much coffee, none after midday.

Get some really luxurious bed linen and making your bed will seem worthwhile.

Get a dishwasher. You can have one now you're a grown up.

Nothing wrong with liking the Simpsons. They are fabulous and I'm 26. I left uni six years ago.

It does wear off by the way. Once you start paying council tax and earning a proper wage, you'll start to veer away from the economy baked beans and towards proper food. I give you at least two more years.

I finished University last July and have been in full time work 9-5.30 for a good year now and I dont want to put a downer on it but im still finding it difficult to adjust too. I asked my friends about it as well and they all say it took them a good year to snap out of it. Im a girl so I dont know if it is any different ( I would think not) but I thought it was weird being with my friends before uni, missed my friends from uni ache to sit in the lounge in my student house and just watch random stuff on the tele and dvd evenings going out etc etc. I think it will start to get easier once you make a new start. My parents have decided to move and I think this will be a good opportunity to make a clean slate. If this is not an option for you how about a complete overhaul of your room and painting it giving it a non student and non what I used to live in before student life... room. It will also help if you can get involved more with your work life but be careful not to mix work with free time at home.

Whatever you expressed is your imagination, is what you think about yourself.
You have been looking your acts and attitude through a magnified thinking which changes your real view to yourself.
Here are some keys for getting closer to a true and realistic mind:
1.Correct breathing and body posture, you should count from 1to 6 while breathing in and 1to17 until you breath out.(after a while you will get use to it without counting the numbers).
2.Drinking about 4-8 glass of water per day.
3.Exercise.(Walking,etc).
4.Checking overall health.(Medical tests).
5.Prevention. Avoiding unhealthy drinks, food , and habits.
6.Eating variety of Healthy food.
7.Self Realisation / Thinking at present.
8.Sufficient sleeping.

Maybe your job just isn't challenging enough? I was so tired when I started mine that I couldn't stay awake past 9 at night! Saying that, I did a PGCE which helped with the transition quite nicely before that too.

Firstly you've got to get through the stage in which me and my friends christened 'Post-uni malaise' after that the sh*t really hits the fan as that's when real life hits. I'm still struggling to get to grips with reality now and I graduated in 2004. So if you learn anything useful could you let me know?

Id start with sorting out your sleeping pattern a bit and being a little more tidy - just a little.
Some things will probably change gradually and naturally and some wont. dont worry about it. u might suddenly decide u want to change ur habits a bit.

you struggle to wake because your not going to bed until 4.
there is no point in making a bed in fact an unmade bed is more hygenic as the air circulates more freely.
everyone hates washing up thats why we get wives.
i know guys in their 40's with same symptoms as you so it won't wear off.

It may sound weird but responsibilities make it easier, I think.
I think you need some time to think your responsibilities over and how you can be useful for other people. And I think meditation techniques, outdoor sports and physical work will help reset your biorhythm.
