There is nothing better than driving by the Krispy Kreme shop....seeing the "Hot" sign flashing, and pulling in to get a few hot donuts (Krispy Kreme originals, naturally) and a cup of black coffee to dunk them in! The first one I eat as is....with the donut literally melting in my mouth, it's so warm and fresh! The other one (or two, depending on how hungry I am!!) I use for dunking...letting that wonderful fragrant coffee soak into it just a bit before closing my eyes and completely enjoying that wonderful experience!

Krispy Kreme all the way! :)

Krispy Kreme Glazed or Krispy Kreme Crullers. What I do is put it in the Microwave for 10 seconds, then put a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream on it and I add Hot Fudge, Whipped Creme and a Cherry on top and Voila, you have a Krispy Ice Kreme Sundae!!!

Overall I prefer Krispy Kreme, but the Vanilla Creme doughnut from Dunkin' is the best in the world (even if more than two makes me sick the next day).

While in the fall and winter nothing in the world can compete with the delicacy which quickly follows the discovery of the flashing Hot Doughnuts Now sign, for cake and filled donuts Duncan's are always the second best in town.

The best in town can always be found at some crappy, crumbling little local bakery which, sadly, you have to find on a town-by-town basis. Surviving local chains in KK and Duncan's markets always provide a superior cake donut. I'm lucky to live in a market with local and superior alternatives to, yes, the classic Krispy Kreme and Ducan's or Winchell's product.

Krispy Kreme for a glazed donut. DD for all other donuts and everything else.
