I guess I'm starting too... though still doens't make a hole lot of sense...the more points you get the answers or questions you can ask which you start racking up points faster than when you first started out. Also you get to be featured on the site as well as find out stuff first... but what stuff that is exactly I haven't the foggiest. Well that's as much as I know at the moment any way.

Promises promises and the foolish man rejoices. Some Psychologist must have did a study that points make people participate, but as far as I can see.................Yahoo just wants us to answer questions with no intention of rewarding us. It takes 250 to get to the next level and 1000 to get to the next level after that. Even if you received 50 right answers---you are still at level 2. .

Points add up to levels as to your answering abilities. there are seven levels of point acquisition. Each level gives you positives as to your helpfulness. IE you can answer more questions if you are on higher levels. Questions cost points. -3 and a ratings score is a positive+1 point. Level 4 answerer

It's intended to balance out how many people can post questions and answers per day. The reason for this is because if people were not limited to how many things they can contribute to, then the servers would most likely crash due to an overload of information. This gives Yahoo! a chance to remove old questions and "recycle" supposedly.

They do it for 2 reasons

1. To encourage the answering of questions as opposed of always asking
2. To use people's addiction to be the highest against them to make them do everything possible to stay on the site as long as possible.
