Iwas born in the US and didnt speak any spanish I learned. I was being treated like crap by my own race. The women looked at me as if was a lesser human. I was picked on told I was trying to be a little white girl, what ever that meant. All the looks at partys or gatherings you see I married a mexican man. And lots of his friends wives treat us american born latinas like whores I tried to be nice but im about to get in a cat fight. IM proud of who I am. Iam also proud that I can now speak 2 languages. So I tell them smirkley its your turn to speak english. haha!!!!! I believe everyone should be treated equal. If I dont know something teach me and dont look down on me for not being exactley like them they also didnt like the fact I didnt speak spanish so partly why I learned is to know what is being said about me. Its kinda funny to catch them I love to call them out. why are they like that?

i kinda know what u mean! im mexican-american too! and i was born here and so were my parents! i also dont speak spanish or not alot of spanish atleast! i go to a 80% mexican high school, most of the kids only speak spanish or atleast prefer to speak spanish! they look at me weird just because i dont speak spanish! and it probably doesnt help that im a light skinned mexican! so they hate on me and my other family members that are already americanized! but dont worry, there just jealous cause we were born here and had easier lives than them! but not all of them are like that! alot of them are kool, they just look like they hate u! if u ask them you'll find out that some of them dont have anything against u! oh yea and i also know enough spanish to know when they talk about me! they call me whiteboy in spanish and call me a pocho! they dont see u as mexican really! they see u as only an american and think ur a sell out! we'll thats what i think that they think about us! oh and some of them think there just plain out better than us because they were born in mexico!

I am sorry you are having this experience, I do believe you , it is just that i never had any experience like that,
i am white, and married a Mexican, other than his mother who thought no female was good enough for her JUNIOR, everyone always treated me great, i have been to Mexico, had boyfriends over there, the families, and friends accepted me, i was loved alot,, always,
Sometimes you may read something into an action and be totally mistaken.. yet if you think it is hostile, or jealousy, you will respond, (it will show) AND maybe it was all your imagiination,
I NEVER HAD ANY NEGATIVE EXPERIENCES, BUT THEN maybe i was just being thinking i was accepted, and content, ,,,,,and did not notice anything negative,
Be careful not to create negative energy, where it is not needed, i mean accidentally, i think if you are gracious, and cheerful and friendly, you will attract the same,

Try being the white girl in a "from" a Mexico born family.
The men stare like vultures and the women smile and immediatly rattle off disparaging remarks.
Their jealous. Plain and simple. You know they all have that look...that "from over there" look! You are probably beautiful and a bit fairer, prettier hair and teeth. You are educated, and do not have to cow down to your husband.They hate you because they wish they were you.

I so know what you're talking about.. (not that I'm Mexican) I'm mixed race, and I'm the only one in the family. All my cousins have both an Italian mother and father.. I only have an Italian mother and I've never learned Italian... they always treat me as an outsider.. I've never fitted in. It stinks, doesn't it?!
