I heard of voodoo stories from Africa to Southeast Asia where voodoo doctors or witches wishing harms on their victims or their enemies. These are also the places where there are many vile and hated dictators. If the people hated them so much, why are they still living to old age and living a happy life?

So no, VooDoo is not "magic", it is "psychology" - but that can be very powerful, especially among the credulous.
