Will we ever see another Teddy Roosevelt, a politician who really cared about and represented the people. As we have come into a era of concentrated powers, which Teddy saw as the most dangerous threat to democracy, can the people recover the power from the "one percent?" Should a small minority control the power? Why?

No, populism's not dead in America and no a small majority should not control the power. Tom McClintock, a California State Senator, former gubernatorial candidate and current candidate for Lieutenant Governor has a strong populist streak. He has denounced politicians on both sides of the aisle for the way they waste the people's money and tax them unfairly.

Tom McClintock is perhaps best known for his staunch opposition to California's hated car tax -- a regressive tax that disproportionately hurts those least able to pay it. Those who need to devote the highest percentage of their income to the car tax are also the most vulnerable, people such as college students and the elderly. Because of McClintock's efforts, the car tax was drastically reduced. McClintock has more recently been active in the fight to keep the government from using eminent domain to take people's property for pennies on the dollar and hand it over to developers.

The problem is APATHY!!!
Well, that and ignorance. 18 year olds have the right to vote. Yet the vast majority don't. And those that do are clones of their parents. Their parents are my generation and we're the ones who screwed this whole thing up in the first place.
I read an answer about the death of "good music" and the answerer said something to the effect of "we're just waiting for the boomers to die".
I know he wasn't speaking for the whole generation, but the fact is a vast and significant portion of the young population of America is apathetically waiting around, doing very little besides continuing the consumptive behavior of their parents and allowing those parents to run the country aground.
All I can say is, if you youngsters don't wake up and take control of your country you pretty soon won't have a country left that'll be worth taking over.

The present generations are a selfish and arrogant people. I blame most of it on the Education system teaching Humanism for the past 40 years.

Humanism is a part of the lie that Eve believed about being as god. The devil deceived her with the idea that she could do her own thing and make her own rules. Which the devil is using today in all manner of religions which are stealing the Souls of multitudes of people.

oh yes, populism is dead. It's up to people like you and me to bring it back. Seriously. If I weren't completely broke, I'd try and start a political party.
