"confound" is not a word! You mean to say "mistake Slovenia and Slovakia for each other".
Because they have no idea about world geography and history or anything outside their own state, for that matter. Slovenia is in South-Eastern Europe and it was a part of the former Yugoslavia, and Slovakia is to the West of the Czeck Republic (which is to the West of Germany, to be more exact). Hope I made things a little more clear for some people. ;o)
Cheers from Romania!

I guess because they both start with Slov. I know the difference, especially since I have read "The Unbearable Lightness of Being," by Milan Kundera. It's a great book.

Because their names are similar. They are relatively close to eachother. They were both part of the eastern block during the cold war.

The spelling is too similar...
And they used to be parts of different countries...
Czechoslovaquia and Yugoslavia...
So they are new countries and we aren't used to them yet!...
Give us another 50 years!
:-)
