Yes, why didn't I think of that?

Let's just 'eliminate' the poor. Great idea.

The reality is that only approx 20% of the world's population live a western ie rich lifestyle. Another 40% live a poor lifestyle and 40% live in an extremely poor ie less than 1 USD a day.

With respect toadvanced western style countries the poor in them were protected by

1. An information barrier ie in the days before the internet is was imposible to run a manufacturing plant in China to source goods for western europe and the US. It is now that is why China is growing at 11%pa.

2. A transport gap in that old fashioned methods of transport meant that even if you made the goods in China it was too expensive to ship them. This barrier is being eroded by containerisation

3. Tariff barriers which under WTO is also being eroded

ie If you have a low skill job in the west be very afraid

With regards to the rest of the world the poor are about to get very much poorer.

This is because up until 1972 the US Dollar was on the gold standard. ie up to 1972 one once of gold = USD35. This limit was abandoned in 1972. The effect of this the amount of USD in the world system is as much as the USA wants to print.

The USA is now incurring higher and higher deficits every year. ie they are printing approx 2,000,000,000 of dollars every day to keep the system balanced.

One reason for this is that it is buying products from countries with low wages

This is increasing annually. The effect of this ultimately will be to increase worldwide inflation. It is already happening look at the price of oil metals and gold over the last three years

The inflation effect will mean that the assets of the rich will increase in value in money terms. As the poor do not have assets the gap will widen exponentially

The poor will never be eliminated.

How do the rich get richer then? Its like a meat grinder, when the bottom lot gets eliminated, then the lowest of the rich get poorer and get pushed towards the grinder.

Never ending process but unfortunately current manipulation of the G8 and powers is putting Africa nearest to the grinder.

If the poor we're to be eliminated (as you put it) and only the rich survived, then the people who we're at the bottom of the 'rich list' would then be considered poor. The whole cycle would then keep going and going until only Bill Gates was left!
