How can you be so sure it was the real Hawkins? Also, there is much wisdom in asking questions. The man who claims to know everything and doesn't care for the opinions or thoughts of others is a fool indeed.

Maybe he was curious as to the intelligence of the people that are here.. It only takes one "spark" of an idea to be able to come to an answer..Out of the various answers he might have found THAT spark .. then again he could have had a great laugh or three :)

actually, he was contacted by yahoo personnel as a publicity stunt. they wanted to have 10 celebrities ask questions to get the site going. in reality, stephen hawking really doesn't need to ask the general public anything. most people can't even form a coherent question, let alone answer one.
