You'd probably black-out rather than die before hitting the ground. How some one has worked out whether the heart stops before impact I have no idea but the shock and even impact could cause severe shock and induce heart seizure.
If you look at some of the cases of skydivers having canopy failures, the ones that survive (usually) are the ones that black-out during the fall and as a result they hit the ground in a limp (muscles relaxed) .............. they do tend to die from the impact though!

As I recall from when I heard this, the theory involves jumping, not just from any building, but from a VERY high building, such as the Empire State Building.
I would imagine this is primarily theoretical.... it certainly would be difficult to prove: "Hey, we wanna do an experiment, any volunteers??" *LOL*
Perhaps it's about the shock stopping your heart, perhaps it's a matter of being unable to breathe from falling too fast.... Sorry, don't remember the details, so can't help on that aspect of it.

I don't think it's true, I've read a story in the news of a guy who fell off the top of a building (maybe 6-8 stories high), landed on a car and walked off with a few broken bones.
Plus if that were true, people wouldn't be skydiving.

It is not true,I think. How could that be?when you are falling down from a high building, you are just the same as an orange which is falling down from high building.Just have a try.the orange will has no problem before it hit the ground.

The shock could kill you, however there have been instances where parachutes haven't opened and the people survived so I think the dead before you hit the ground is on a case by case situation.
P.S. Please don't try to find out.

People have fallen out of aircraft and survived (if there fall has been broken by trees for example) so I don't think thats true. Maybe some people had a heart attack before impact, but I would say most people die from the impact.

it depends on the height of the building and your general bodies condition. Its usually the impact at the bottom that kills you but as previously mentioned, heart attack is also a possibility. Dont forget though that dependant on height and velocity you might not be able to catch a breath on way down so you could choke/suffocate whils falling.
Not a nice way to go anyhow!

it would have to be very big building but you would only die when you hit the ground what happens when you jump from the top of the building you pass out this was found out when peaple jump from planes they have there shoots wired so when they reach a certen distance the shoots opens automaticly as most often they have passed out

i won't know and I don't anyone that has could tell you that, so how would they know. You'd have to be killed first. Or hit something on your way down. People jump form planes (that is much higher than a top of a building) and don't die so I don't think you theory is true.
