geocities, to the best of my knowledge, is free. I've used it before. But you don't geocities anyway. http://www.angelfire.com is way better. You can use more filetypes, and it has a transloader, should you need it. Not to mention it has a much better look than geocities. Angelfire! It's what I run my website off of.
Also, you can even design your site with Microsoft FrontPage.

There are other crappy free places like fortunecity. But if u need a lot of space its best u pay for it.
