If you're talking about a starter, a guy like Livan Hernadez could give the Sox a solid rotation 1-5, but they really don't need another starter.
They've got Schilling, Beckett, and Lester. Wells and Wakefield are coming back from injury. Clement is coming back too. They also have a lefty, Gabbard down at Pawtucket that they could call back up again. Foulke is also coming back from injury. If these injured guys can come back and contribute, this team will be fine.

It really doesn't matter if we get a temporary fix pitcher before the deadline. We got 2 aces, a not so bad left handed rookie, and by Monday a healthy David Wells. When Wakefield comes back just think of how unbeatable we will be, especially at home. For the next 5 days we are missing 2 starters but things will go our way soon. Also Keith Foulke is coming back soon. That will strengthen the bp if he is healthy.
Overall getting a starting pitcher by the deadline will only affect us for a week or 2. Trading Julian tavarez would help though.
We are in the playoffs this year from the look of it now. The team is only getting better over time.

I agree with greenmoster, trading Tavarez would help this bullpen immensely. But they have stellar pitchers in Schilling, Beckett, Lester, Wakefield [hope the time off did Clement some good] with Wells, Wakefield and Foulke coming off the DL and with their relief pitchers Timlin, DelCarmen, Hansen and the closer of all closers Paplebon they have one superb, awesome bullpen. With some of their best starters hurt Wells and Wakefield you really have not noticed a difference because we are still winning games, but when we get all of our guys back, teams better watch out, because the Boston Red Sox will bring it.

Love the Red Sox!! and hello to all my friends who are diehard fans like me as well on this website!!
We are definitely going to keep coming on strong even with the pitchers we already have. As soon as we get some of our players back from injury, we'll be even more awesome!!
Watch out!

We will struggle - we need one more SP - and 1 more Middle RP - Snyder, Lester, etc.. can't put the innings in and keep their pitch counts low enough. We don't need a Dontrelle Willis - but Jake Peavy would be phenominal
