/24 means no of bits masked from the host bit of the IP address range.
Its used to denote the subnet mask of the IP address.
Subnet mask is also a 32 bit address same as IP address.
As the above example is already a Class C IP address and as no bits have been borrowed for further subnetting therefore its denoted by /24 meaning it would have a default subnet mask for Class C IP address which would be 255.255.255.0
for eg had it been /25 then the subnet mask for the above IP address range would have changed to 255.255.255.128 as one 1 bit from host tange would have been borrowed.
hope it helps.

This is the way to show the network address.
192.168.100.11/24
it can be also shown like that
192.168.100.11
255.255.255.0
IP address is of 32 bit address with four pair of Octate
and Each Octate is of 8 bit.
as we look more deeper this address is of C class
in which
00000000.00000000.00000000.00000000 (total of 32 bit IP address)
255. 255 . 255 .0 ( it means)
11111111.11111111.11111111.00000000
1= ON Bit
0= OFF Bit
255= 128+64+32+16+8+4+2+1
and 192.168.100.11 (Means)
11000000.10101000.01100100.00001011
and
/24 means :
three pair of octate of this ip address is : ON
and one Octate is :OFF.
i.e it belongs to CLASS 'C' IP address
Class C
00000000.00000000.00000000.00000000
|---------------------------------------| |------------|
Network Part Host Part
Network Part If Given Once can not be changed
and Host part Is different for each Host attached To that address.
I think you got it

Please ignore the above posts. They're clueless! (It's not a Quest IP address, it's a private IP range. Sheesh!)
It means 24 bits of subnetting. Just another way of expressing the subnet mask, which in this case is 255.255.255.0.
As you can see, writing /24 is a lot quicker than writing 255.255.255.0
Full disclosure:
Network address: 192.168.100.0
Broadcast address: 192.168.100.255
Useable range: 192.168.100.1 - 192.168.100.254

IT is a method of calculating the network address...host address in a network. FOR THE EXAMPLE THAT U'VE GIVEN THE ANSWERS ARE
Address: 192.168.100.11
Netmask: 255.255.255.0 = 24
Wildcard: 0.0.0.255
Network: 192.168.100.0/24
Broadcast: 192.168.100.255
HostMin: 192.168.100.1
HostMax: 192.168.100.254
number of hosts in a network: 254
THE VALUE 24 is the CIDR VALUE WHICH HELPS IN CALCULATING THE ABOVE INFORMATION.
CIDR:CLASSLESS INTER DOMAIN ROUTING

Internet Protocol
your ip address is the identity of your computer in a network...
it is like your id to pass the network...
with this ip address that you show,
you have computers or devices that is connected to the network
with those IP address from 11 - 24...so you have 13 device that is connected to the network...

192.168.100.11/ 24 means
ip address: 192.168.100.11
subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
In the above IP address 3 octets are network bits and remaining 1 octets are host bits
IP address is divided in into 4 octects (32bits)
Subnet mask is used to differentiate betweent the network bits and host bits
