I am definite he wouldn't have performed it however nonetheless the object he accused used to be a authorized means and i'm very completely satisfied approximately it. however nonetheless he wouldn't have acquired the pink card due to the fact that while zidane used to be looking to provide a target a few italian participant jumped on him and the referee did not even provide a yellow/pink card. But that italian participant used to be stored. The act he did had no illegality in it.He did not anything improper however then he isn't pronouncing why he did however then there group friends suspecting that illmannared stupi italian *****(italian participant) stated anything to his mom or he known as zidane an stinkly algerian. something it's Italy the nation thieves and robbers don't deseve to win the cup. At irst they will have to punish the referee for no longer seeing the fit cautiously and it's look that referee took italy's aspect. after which the last will have to be a rematch. The entire global adored him and he used to be very well and he ha a well mannered and delicate conduct however that most effective due to the fact that of that bustard italian participant france misplaced the cup. i pray to god he does not will get retired and springs again for his revenge. something i stated it real and to the factor

It's not as simplistic an answer as you request. Some French agree and some don't. Some Italians defend Matterazzi and some don't. Some Muslims will defend his reaction and some won't and as I am none of those, I don't feel right speaking as one of them. I don't like what he did, but I understand it. That incident was unfortunate on both players behalves. Both share responsibility. I still have my doubts as to the viewing of the replay(or not), but you must admit the difficulty of the situation the referee found himself in was never going to result in a decision that pleased everyone. However, it has not blighted my respect or admiration for Zidane on the whole as both an incredible footballer who I will miss terribly or as a man who I believe is incredibly compassionate and a genuinely good person.

Oh and you really shouldn't define how you want your question answered as it is a place for opinions.

As a French, I think Zidane's act was justified, if what I heard about what the Italian did is true. And the decision of the refferee is justified too.

And I'm glad the Italian won the worldcup !

i mean...at first of course everyone was so shocked and angry at him for doing that. but it seemed the italian provoked him and was taunting him the whole game. so i think both of them should've been thrown out.

it was a bit unfair that they used replay to make their judgement because in a real game your not allowed to do that. if the ref doesn't see it, he can't make a call. in that case, zidane shouldn't have been thrown out.

Zindane's act was completely unjustified by any means and the ref was correct to give a Red card. Get over it move on.

I'm Italian and I live in Turin - former Winter Olympics 2006 Host City - near town center, marketplace area. Here the population main part is made by foreign, in great part Arab people. This is the poorest area in Turin and the marketplace every night switch from fruits and vegetables to drugs. Here harsh words are raining every single minute, all day, all night. But people aren't killing in the suicidal escalation insult - hurt - more hurts - murdering as someone on Y-Answers seems natural when starting from an insult.
It's real life and people have rule of thumb, besides needs, habits, religion, temper.
To enforce rules of thumb there are Laws.
Everyone could be investigated for insulting behavior and worst dangerous damaging act, as hurting someone else. Once again, this occurs besides needs, habits, religion and temper.

Now, sport is only a minor part of social life. Every sport has its own rules, but basic rules are the same: sportsmanship, correctness, friendship and those are written in the Laws of the game. I guess insulting and hurting are dangerous in everyday life and definitively silly habits in sports. Especially if you spot as we were speaking about world TV watched (by children too) champions who earns lots of money.

The only referee decision was sending off Zidane, according with Law (of the game) 12 – Fouls and Misconduct - Sending-Off Offences - "A player, substitute or substituted player is sent off and shown the red card if he commits any of the following seven offences:
1. is guilty of serious foul play
2. is guilty of violent conduct [...]"
Zidane's ban 3 match was decided by FIFA on 20 July, as well as Materazzi ban 2 match. The last decision was controversial, because insulting behavior is usual in football and it was quite never sanctioned before. But once again, there are rules.
Law (of the game) 12 – Fouls and Misconduct - Sending-Off Offences - "A player, substitute or substituted player is sent off and shown the red card if he commits any of the following seven offences:
[...]
6. uses offensive or insulting or abusive language and/or gestures [...]"
Before Zid-Mat affair, this rule was applied only if those offencies were send to the referee. This affair, world TV watched and pumped from media, was so disappointing to force FIFA in heavyly applying the existing rule (and this will help in leaving insulting habits by players in future).
My opinion was having Zidane banned 3 match and Materazzi 1 would be a balanced judgment. FIFA increased Mat's banning because Zid was Golden Ball awarded (and many people disagree after his foul) and such a judgment is saying Mat was guilty quite as Zid was.

So, I'm not concerned at all with ref (FIFA) decisions. They apply their rules, and, as above, rules aren't concerned with habits, behaviors and religion. Being Muslim has nothing to do in this affair.
"In their statements, both players stressed that Materazzi's comments had been defamatory but not of a racist nature. During the course of their hearings, both players also apologised to FIFA for their inappropriate behaviour and expressed their regret at the incident"

Rule of thumb is always right to me
Be careful
Think twice
Avoid escalation
Anyway, we are talking about a football match, it wasn't Italy-France war nor Zid-Mat fight.

He head-butted Materazzi...Isn't that enough to be punished?? Honestly I think he should of had his Golden Ball taken away..He doesn't deserve it, he's a disgrace to his country and fans!!
