My family traveled from California to the East Coast. My 2 year old granddaughter did not like to fly, especially takeoffs and landings. They have to come back home. Any suggestions?

I'm betting she will be better on the return trip, because now she is an experienced flier. At least, it might help if you treat it that way. I think I would be pretty apprehensive, too, if it was my first time flying and I was so young that I really could not understand what was going on.

After all, it is pretty weird, when you think about it. You go into this small chamber, the chamber moves around in weird ways, you have to be strapped in much of the time, like in a car, but you can't see anything out the windows. If you do see anything out the window, it is the startling perception that you are WAY UP IN THE AIR!!!! After a long, long time, you finally have some more strange bumps and stuff, and then when they open the doors, you are in some totally unfamiliar place.

maybe you can put her to sleep during take off or landing times? i know putting a 2 year old to sleep is very difficult ... but there must be a way ... i mean, you can't go by road cuz the distance is great ... then, can you go by waterways? i don't know, but there must be a way, and if there isn't, you'll just have to convince her and make her fly?

she's two years old. if they have to come back, she does not get to vote, she goes with her parents. she will be fine, and will maybe learn that she does not have to be the one in control. maybe this time she will like flying . make it a positive experience for her. take along her favorite books, stuffed animal, and treats.
