I am assuming you are looking for the definition of literature. Literature is a broad topic that no one definition can sufficiently define. The three I know are The body of written works of a language, period, or culture, Imaginative or creative writing, especially of recognized artistic value, The art or occupation of a literary writer.

it literally means acquaintance with letters. it also means books, texts, containing prose, poetry, drama and songs, ballads etc. it a person writes a book on science it can not be called literature.
