I have seen people who die in car accidents, suicide etc have their shoes off their feet in many cases. Why is this so?

Well, when you die, eventually your body decomposes or is cremated. So no matter what, your feet will either gradually or quickly get much MUCH smaller! All kidding aside, I have never heard of that occurrence before, but if there is a lot of blood loss, and one considers that things contract when heat is lost, it is then natural to assume that the flesh of the human body after losing all body heat and fluids will actually become smaller after death. Whether or not that shrinkage is enough to cause shoes to fall off is another question....but definitely possible.

of course they get smaller. there are maggots to make sure of this case. They eat the flesh around the bone, and i am not sure what is aound the bone. I am sure that even bone breaks down into the dirt. It may take much longer, but carbon always breaks down. That is why we have radiocarbon dating and things of such. man came from dirt and will end up as the dirt he came from. Like the fact or not. It is true. No, dead bodies become dirt, no matter what kind of preservation you put them through. Therefore, yes, of course a dead body becomes less in mass than when he/she first died.

Yes our dead body wiill get smaller because most of our body more tahn half is water .In our blood there is water and in our flesh and also in our stomach and in our womb and urine. bladder In an accident if its blood flew out so her/his leg and stomach or body will be smaller. But after hours and days the dead body will get bigger because it will get swollen and then be rotten. At last our body will be only bones because all the meats on the bones have become into water and go to the earth..

No, they don't get smaller that fast. It's caused by movement. If they shrunk, the shoes would still be on when deceased because most deceased person are laying prone in some fashion.
